JAMB, WAEC Introduce One-off WASSCE Result Verification

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and the West African Examinations Council(WAEC) have introduced a new policy that will allow candidates seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions to verify their West African Senior School Certificate Examination(WASSCE) O’Level results once through JAMB, from the comfort of their homes or any internet-enabled location.

In a joint press statement issued by both bodies, JAMB and WAEC said the arrangement followed a series of meetings and consultations aimed at reducing stress for candidates and simplifying the admission process while safeguarding the integrity of academic records.

According to the statement, all candidates whose admissions are regulated and coordinated by JAMB will verify their WAEC results only once through JAMB.

The statement added that the outcome of the verification will then be made available to the institution to which the candidate is seeking admission.

“Candidates are to pay N4,000 only, once, for the verification of their WASSCE O’Level results on the specified platform and not through their desired institutions,” the statement said.

The statement added that tertiary institutions are to utilise the verified results shared by JAMB for screening, processing admission and other administrative purposes, and candidates shall not be required to pay for another verification.

Iit noted that WAEC has also agreed to permit JAMB to share the outcome of the verification exercise with relevant tertiary institutions for the purposes stated.

The arrangement, the statement said is designed to ensure that candidates who have successfully verified their WASSCE O’Level results through the verification service platform will not be required to repeat the exercise.

JAMB and WAEC said the new system will significantly reduce the stress associated with repeated visits to institutions or JAMB-approved Computer-Based Test centres, as candidates can now initiate the verification process from home or any location with internet access.

Candidates are therefore encouraged to take full advantage of the improved arrangement by verifying their results through the JAMB-provisioned verification service once and for all, knowing that the verified result will be utilised by the relevant institution.

The collaboration, according to both bodies, underscores their commitment to putting the interests of candidates first, reducing unnecessary costs and simplifying the admission process while maintaining the integrity and security of candidates’ academic records.
