JUST IN: Covid-19: Africa’s Infections Cross 400,000, 354 Dead In 24 Hours

The World Health Organization (WHO) Africa Region, says that the continent registered a total of 403,692 covid-19 cases as of Tuesday, June 30.

In a tweet on Wednesday, WHO’s Dashboard stressed that 354 deaths were recorded in 24 hours bringing the total death toll in the continent to 10,126.

Also, ” more than 190,000 recoveries”
has been recorded, WHO says.

Meanwhile, South Africa still leads in terms of cases, totalling 151,209 and total deaths reaching 2657.

However, Egypt has the highest covid-19 deaths so far, which stands at 2953, according to WHO’s dashboard.

WHO had urged the continent to strengthen its health system so as to effectively contain the pandemic.

According to WHO, the covid-19 pandemic, though low in the continent, is gradually increasing in the region.

The Nigerian Government, through the Covid-19 Presidential Task Force, has urged its citizens to strictly comply with the health protocols, so as to ward off covid-19.
