JUST IN: FG Announces Last Evacuation Flight For Stranded Nigerians In US

The Federal Government has announced its 9th and last evacuation flight from the United States of America, thereby urging stranded Nigerians to take advantage of it.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Consulate General of Nigeria (dated August 10) and obtained by our correspondent.

“The federal government of Nigeria has approved the 9th and last evacuation flight for stranded Nigerians in the USA, scheduled to depart Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) New Jersey on Thursday, 20th August by 21:15 HRS,” it stated.

According to the statement, an Ethiopian Airlines plane will be conveying the evacuees to Abuja and Lagos, on the scheduled date.

“Consequently, all prospective evacuees should purchase their one-way ticket through www.ethiopianairlines.com at the cost of USD1,250 (Abuja) and USD1,350(Lagos) for Economy class and USD2,800 (Abuja) and USD2,900 (Lagos) for Business class for adult/child fare, including all taxes, with the usual percentage reduction for infants under 2yrs”, the statement partly read.

It further urged all interested parties to also submit their details (after payment) to [email protected] and [email protected].

However, it maintained that prospective evacuees must have tested negative for Covid-19 to be eligible for airlifting.

The federal government has so far evacuated over 1,200 Nigerians from the US.

Also, as they arrive the country, they will have to self-isolate for 14 days in line with the evacuation protocols set by the Presidential Task Force on Covid -19 pandemic.
