JUST IN: Health Minister, NCDC Speak On Cure For Covid-19 Patients

Nigeria’s Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire refused to reveal names of drugs used on Coronavirus patients who had recovered, saying it was still a matter of interest to doctors.

He spoke at a press briefing by the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19, in response to a question regarding the cure administered to the discharged patients.

He also said that doctors were still doing clinical trials, adding that it was not yet time to make disclosures.

On his part, the Director General of the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Chikwe Ihekweazu, said that in terms of treatment, “there is no particular drug for Covid-19”.

“What we do is to sustain their respiratory function until the patients recover on their own,” he added.

Furthermore, the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, also said that the Nigeria Broadcasting Commission (NBC) had directed all media houses not to entertain’ unverified claims or commercial for the vaccine or treatment of Coronavirus.

Over 20 covid-19 patients have recovered and had been discharged.
