Labour Union Protest As Energy Group Hold 5th GMD Conference

Members of the Labour Union, on Monday, stormed the proceedings of the fifth GMD conference of the energy group, demanding for payment of their salaries.

Our reporter who monitored the conference which was airing live on television, reports that while the Group Managing Director (GMD), Energy Group, Dr. Jimoh Ibrahim was delivering his lecture, the labour union stormed into the hall, disrupting the conference.

The aggrieved workers, after gaining entrance into the hall, chorused the solidarity song, and carried placards with different inscriptions urging the group to pay their salaries.

They lamented that workers could be owed salaries for over 13 months. Some of the inscriptions read, “Jimoh Ibrahim pay us our money” “enough is enough, we are not leaving until you pay us our money”.

The drama did not end there, as immediately the lights went off. It is suspected that it was thought that the protest will not be visible to viewers as the conference was on live television.

Although, Mr Ibrahim ignored their lamentation as he went on with his lecture, he later directed that the protesters be attended to, and their salary paid immediately.
