Lack Of Visionary Leaders, Reason Nigeria Is Divided – Moghalu

A former presidential candidate, Kingsley Moghalu, has blamed the divisions among Nigerians on the leadership of the country.

According to Moghalu, the development is a proof of lack of vision by the leaders.

“The reason Nigeria is distressed and divided is not because it is impossible for Nigeria to prosper as one country (or) because we have different religions/tribes.

“It is because there is no leadership with a vision that can unite us around a common purpose; differences can be managed,” Moghalu tweeted on Sunday.

Furthermore, he based his views on the fact that countries with many religions and ethnic groups than Nigeria are more prosperous than the country.

He added that for the country to make a headway, its leaders must not just be fixated about elections, but live by a corporate sense of mission that would progressively improve the situation of the country and its citizens.

His tweet further reads:

“Plural societies like India and USA and many others exist, but the key is create, as in America at its founding, some over-arching sense of purpose and ‘manifest destiny’ that can help moderate divisions.

“Above all, creating prosperity for citizens is key.

“Takes good governance.

“And that requires a commitment to inclusion —justice and equity on the one hand, and a consultative approach to governance that includes citizens and manages diversity effectively.”
