Let Me Teach You How To Humble Godfathers -Tambuwal Tells Edo Governor

Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State has offered to give free tips to Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State who has been embroiled in a battle for the soul of the All Progressive Congress in his state with
suspended national chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole.

Tambuwal,who is of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party and the chairman of the PDP Governors Forum
spoke at the 40th anniversary of Silverbird Group, owners of Silverbird Television and Rhythm FM, in Lagos on Friday night.

Tambuwal, while giving his acceptance speech as Silverbird 2019 Man of the Year said, “let me advice my brother, Governor Godwin Obaseki, to consult me for counselling on how to stand toe – to – toe and defeat godfathers as your reelection draws nearer.”

Recalled that Governor Aminu Tambuwal, in the 2019 governorship election narrowly defeated his APC opponent, said to the anointed candidate of Senator Aliyu Wammako, the strongman of Sokoto politics and Tambuwal’s immediate predecessor.

“My victory after the first ballot was declared inconclusive despite having majority votes and the required twenty five percent spread across the state. Against all odds, the people of Sokoto restated their confidence in us and God gave us victory at the second ballot.

“Thrice, we were taken to the tribunal, appeal and supreme courts but, we emerged victorious. On January 14, our matter could not come up unlike Imo, where the the fourth placed was pronounced the Governor,” Tambuwal recalled.

Presenting the award to Governor Tambuwal, constitutional lawyer and human rights activist, Mike Ozhekome, SAN, described him as, a unique, extraordinary politician, who at fifty four years was already a speaker of the Federal House of Representatives and a two time governor.

“Governor Tambuwal is a rare politician, who emerged Speaker even against the wish of his political party. He has never lost any election since he appeared on the national political scene as a legislative aide in 1999, before his foray into elective offices in 2013.”

The 2019 Silverbird posthumous award winners are former Nigerian President, Shehu Shagari, politician, Adeniran Ogunsanya, Activist, Alfred Riwane and former Senate President, Chuba Okadigbo, while Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state, won the Extraordinary Personality Award.
