Man Abducts 17-Year-Old For Sex In Ekiti

The police have arraigned a 21-year- old man, Mohammed Yakubu, before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly abducting a 17-year-old girl with intent to have carnal knowledge of her.

Yakubu was charged with one count of abduction.
 
The prosecutor, Inspector Oriyomi Akinwale, told the court that the accused person committed the offence between September 7 and September 8 at Zone 9, Olorunda area of Ado-Ekiti.

Akinwale alleged that the defendant abducted the underage girl with the intent to have sex with her.
 
He said the offence contravened Section 225 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012. The prosecutor asked the court for adjournment to enable him study the case file and present his witnesses.
 
The defendant pleaded not guilty. His counsel, Abiola Gboyega, prayed the court to grant him bail. He assured the court that his client would not jump bail if the bail application was granted.
 
The Chief Magistrate, Adefumike Anoma, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum. She adjourned the case till October 30 for hearing.
