Nigerian Players Set For Action In Scottish Premiership

The Scottish Premiership is set to start their 2020/2021 season in August 1 which would see the duo of Nigerian internationals, Joe Aribo and Efe Ambrose resume football activities for Rangers and Livingston respectively.

The Scottish League 2019/2020 season was cancelled by the football chiefs in Scotland and Celtic was crowned Champions of the league due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The new season will see a total ban on fans accessing the stadium as they are only provided with virtual tickets which would be sold to allow them stream live games from home.

The Sun Sports reports that a deal was reached between SPFL and Sky Sports so that fans could buy all the home games and stream them live in their homes.

Ban on football activities would be lifted on June 11 to allow clubs resume non-contact group training.

Neil Doncaster, an SPFL chief executive, said “This is an innovative and pragmatic solution to the challenges posed by Covid-19 and I’m grateful for the flexibility shown by our clubs and by Sky Sports.

“This agreement means that any liability for games not delivered during season 2019-20 has now been settled, on terms that reflect Sky’s status as a committed partner and supporter of Scottish football.”
