Nigerians Will Shame Obansajo, IBB In 2019 – Festus Keyamo

Festus Keyamo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), has foreseen that Nigerians will shame leaders like former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Head of State, Ibrahim Babangida, by voting in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2019.

Keyamo was reacting to Obasanjo’s criticism of President Muhammadu Buhari’s government on Monday.

Obasanjo, who had described Buhari as a “failure“, warned that any attempt to field him for president in 2019 would amount to the reinforcement of failure.

The former president said, “Never you reinforce failure. Let failure be a failure. And if you do not see what you should see, you will then be a victim of what you don’t like because it’s only when you see what you should see and you do what you should do that you put away what you do not like.”

But responding to Obasanjo`s statement in a tweet on Tuesday, Mr Keyamo said Obasanjo and other “self-conceited leaders“ will be ultimately put to shame when Buhari will be re-elected president in the next general elections.

“Since 1960, a few people have always determined who would govern all of us. They’re the ones now writing letters and inciting the people. 2019 would be a defining moment as d people of this country will truly determine their own fate and put these self-conceited leaders to ultimate shame.

“Let’s remember that during d first 4 years of Obasanjo (1999-2003) he kept blaming d ‘rot’ the military left behind as the reason for his abysmal performance and begged Nigerians to be patient with him. To the extent that he reportedly knelt down for Atiku then to get his 2nd-term ticket,“ said the lawyer.

Recall that Mr Keyamo had previously claimed that both Obasanjo and IBB have nothing good to offer the country.

“Babangida spent N40billion on a transition programme to nowhere; eight years to nowhere.

“These are people who have been involved in the past in selection process, military coups, and all of that; so they don’t still believe in democracy,” the SAN had said in reaction to the controversial letters recently written by Obasanjo and IBB against the Buhari administration.
