No Date Yet For Resumption Of International Flights – Aviation Minister

The minister of aviation, Hadi Sirika, has said the government is yet to fix a date for resumption of international flights.

This was in reaction to reports that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) had announced October 15 as the resumption date.

But contrary to reports, the minister on Tuesday in a tweet said Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) only issued a routine 90-day notice to airmen (NOTAM).

“We will announce the agreed date, regardless of the ban by Europe, UAE etc. May be earlier than October.”

Recall that airports across the country were closed on March 23, 2020, to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

However airlines began domestic flight operations on July 8 with the reopening of Lagos and Abuja airports while Kano, Port Harcourt, Owerri and Maiduguri airports reopened on July 11.
