NSCDC Apprehends 13 Suspected Vandals In Lagos

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, have announced the arrest of no fewer than 13 suspected pipeline vandals.

The state commandant, Gabriel Abafi, who revealed this to newsmen, said that eight of the suspects were nabbed, each with 706 plastic kegs of 25 litres of Premium motor spirit, also called petrol, around the Badagry area.

Abafi said, “This operation took place at Badagry area between 4pm and 8pm, while they were attempting to move the product to neighbouring countries of Benin, Togo and Ghana.

“The Nigerian Navy ship, BEECROFT, our partners, on August 5 also handed over five other suspects to the command with 81 drums of 250 litres each of petrol recovered from them while heading to the Republic of Benin.

Abafi identified the arrested suspects as, Jacob Apaloo (43), Kwame Tola (48), Amayon Sisieli (31), Sunday Setol, Senaya Edo, Michael Dansu (73) and Moses David and Nfon Alaka.

Others are Maton Nge, Felix Obogun, Oluwasegun Tinsika, Simon Akinmuleya, and Yusuf Arowolo, who are in their 30s.

The commandant appealed to Nigerian youths to engage in legitimate business and shy away from all forms of illegalities.

He thanked all other security agencies for their energy and synergy, warning those who were still in illegal act to desist or face the wrath of the law.

He also noted that his men would ensure a renewed commitment towards a total eradication of vandalism in the state.
