Osun Pastor, Watchmen, Others Remanded In Prison Over Ritual Killing

An Osun State Magistrate’s Court sitting in Osogbo on Thursday ordered that Rueben Olagunju, a pastor, Gbadamosi Adewumi, a night watchman and seven others should be remanded in correctional center over the alleged killing and mutilating of human parts.

The police had arraigned Gbadamosi, Rueben, Saka Akeem and Rasheed Ajani before the magistrate on five counts of murder, conspiracy, misdemeanour and possession of human parts.

The police prosecutor, John Idoko, told the court that the accused persons on May 20, 2021 at about 2am at Ifeoluwa community in the Oke-Baale area of Osogbo conspired among themselves to murder one Kehinde and indecently interferes with his corpse.

He further told the court that they ( accused persons) also had in their possession human parts.

Idoko stated that the offences contravened sections 324, 319(1), 517,242 and 329A of the Criminal Code cap. 34 Vol.II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.

In a separate charge, a guard, Kabiru Oyeduntan, Akin, Ramoni Rilwan, Najeem Ayeloja and two others were arraigned for the murder of one Toyin Adewale and for mutilating her body in Apomu, Osun State.

The pleas of the suspects were not taken by the magistrate.

Magistrate Adijat Oloyade ordered that they should be remanded in the Ilesa Correctional Centre and their case file be transferred to the Director of Public Prosecution.

She adjourned the cases till the 25th and 26th of August 2021 for mention.
