Police Arrest 15 Knife Wielding Gangsters In Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested 15 Shila gang members who are below 20 years of age.

‘Shila Boys’ are known to specialise in snatching mobile phones, jewellery and other valuables in Yola, by striking victims with weapons like knives and any other weapon at their disposal.

According to a press release by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the 15 suspects were arrested in the early hours of Wednesday.

He said they were arrested by the police at Jimeta Division, Yola North Local Government Area (L.G.A) while on patrol with vigilante men along Rumde.

He further explained that the “radical Shila gangs” were engaged by the forces and overpowered, leading to their arrests.

Nguroje said: “Fifteen out of many suspected criminals were arrested with dangerous weapons stated below: Four sharp daggers, three knives, two handsets, nineteen thousand naira (N19,000), quantity of hard drugs, amongst others were recovered.

“The suspects are: Adamu Abdullahi, 17 years, Hassan Mohammed, 18 yrs, Abdullahi Yusuf, 18 years, Abdulrazak Abubakar, 19 years, Ibrahim Umar, 19 years, Mohammed Zakaria, 14 years, Mohammed Auwal, 16 years, Kabiru Abdullahi, 20 years and Auwal Adamu, 15 years.

Others are: Aminu Adamu, 13 years, Abdulraham Umar, 16 years, Amir Mohammed, 15 years, Anas A. Rufai, 20 years, Usman Tijjani, 15 years and Mohammed Abubakar, 17 years.”
