Police Finally Vacate APC Secretariat

Heavily armed detachment of policemen, stationed at the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) since Wednesday last week have finally vacated the premises.

The secretariat was taken over and sealed by the security operatives, following an FCT High Court judgement suspending its National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole. Staff and visitors of the party, following the takeover of the secretariat were also denied access into the premises.

The takeover of the secretariat, it was gathered, was to prevent crisis after the FCT court judgement and the subsequent counter judgement by another Kano court.

Since the crisis in the party began, the acting National Secretary, Victor Giadom is reported to have been steering the affairs of the party.

THE WHISTLER observed on Wednesday that only two police vehicles were at the premises of the secretariat, with a few police officers who appeared to be on regular security duty at the secretariat..

It was also observed that staff and visitors were allowed freely into the secretariat as the pedestrian entrance of the gate was open, a development, that was not the case a few days ago.This paper had reported on Monday that staff were granted access into their offices at the secretariat after screening by policemen who manned the gate.Journalists accredited by the party were also allowed access in the party..

Meanwhile, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party was reported to have met on Tuesday behind closed doors without  Oshiomhole.

It was also gathered that the NWC meeting discussed the forthcoming March 17, 2020 emergency National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party expected to be attended by President Muhammadu Buhari.
