Presidency Reacts As Buhari’s Letter To Senator Elisha Abbo Leaks

The presidency has reacted to a congratulatory letter sent by President Muhammadu Buhari to Senator Elisha Abbo following his emergence as a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which suddenly surfaced online.

An online newspaper had published the letter, stating that it was released in the wake of the assault allegation levelled against Senator Abbo.

Recall that the senator had physically assaulted a nursing mother when he visited a sex toy shop in Abuja.

The closed circuit television (CCTV) footage of the incident had gone viral on the social media, sparking outrage from Nigerians.

But in reaction to the letter, Personal Assistant to Buhari on new media, Bashir Ahmed, said the letter was sent to the senator on 18th March, 2019.

He wrote on twitter, “What’s this? Hopefully the Signal is not trying to link this congratulatory letter to the recent incidence.

“The letter was signed and sent to the Senator on 18th March, 2019, and a similar letter was also sent to other elected Senators at the same time.”
