Presidential Poll: Nigerians Support Atiku’s Planned Court Action

Following calls by some prominent Nigerians and groups for Atiku Abubakar, defeated presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to concede defeat and drop his planned legal action, some Nigerians are reacting to the issue.

Many have expressed full support for Atiku’s decision to head to court so as to reclaim what they call his “stolen mandate” using the the hastag #IStandWithAtiku currently trending on twitter.

It will be recalled that Muhammadu Buhari of the APC polled 15,191, 847 votes to defeat Atiku Abubakar of the PDP who polled 11,262,987 votes in the February 23 presidential election as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Atiku had in February 27 rejected the result of the polls saying: “With regards to the Presidential elections that took place on February 23, 2019, it is clear that there were manifest and premeditated malpractices in many states which negate the results announced… Consequently, I hereby reject the result of the February 23, 2019 sham election and will be challenging it in court”
