Rape: COZA Pastor Fatoyinbo Gives 3 Reasons For Stepping Down

The Senior Pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) Church, Biodun Pastor, has announced his decision to step down from mounting the pulpit on Monday.

Bidoun, who was recently accused by singer Timi Dakolo’s wife, Busola, of raping her at the age of 17, announced that he was taking “a leave of absence from the pulpit of the church” in a statement posted on his Instagram page on Monday morning.

Biodun hinged his decision on, “drawing from the counsel” of Christian leaders and “that of the leadership of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly and owing to my love for God’s work and the sacred honor of my calling>.”

He wrote, “The past few days have been sobering for me. I have taken time to pray and seek spiritual counsel from Christian leaders around the world, who feel very concerned about the ongoing reports in the media. I have solicited their guidance on actions, I should take that are honouring to our Lord Jesus Christ and the work, he has called me to do.

“Drawing from their counsel and that of the leadership of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly and owing to my love for God’s word and sacred honour of my calling, I have decided to take a leave of absence from the pulpit of the church.”

Pastor Biodun had recently denied the rape allegation after Mrs Busola Dakolu accused him of taking her virginity at while she was still a teenager.

The COZA pastor’s decision to step down followed the protests that greeted the church services at the Abuja and Lagos branches of the church on Sunday.
