Recruit OPC Members That Confronted Military During June 12 Into Amotekun – Islamic Group

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has called on governors from the South West region to recruit members of the Oduduwa People’s Congress (OPC) into ‘Amotekun’.

Amotekun is a regional security network that was recently established by governors from the six states that make up the South West geopolitical zone.

MURIC director, Ishaq Akintola, in a statement on Monday, said members of the OPC that fought during the June 12 struggle should be integrated into Amotekun to help improve security in the region.

According to Akintola, the OPC members would be able to deal with criminals terrorizing the South West because they were, “the only known militant organisation which confronted the military during the June 12 struggle.”

He said, “Their leaders were incarcerated on account of the just struggle for the actualisation of MKO Abiola’s high-jacked mandate.”

Akintola also noted that OPC played a central role in bringing sanity to the South West between 2000 and 2015 when armed robbery cases were high in the region.

“Many armed robbery suspects were apprehended with the help of the OPC and handed over to the police.

“It is our considered opinion that South West governors should not forget these heroes in the ongoing recruitment into Amotekun,”he said.
