The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), on Monday September 4, commenced an indefinite nationwide strike over non-payment of its members salary arrears, among other motives.

The association had demanded payment of salary arrears of some its members as well as the elevation of its members that are due for promotion

According to Olaopa, association resorted to embark on strike at the end of its National Executive Council meeting on Monday morning in Abuja.

“Neither the federal nor state governments has shown commitment to the resolution of issues at stake nor honoured previous agreements.

“Consequent upon this, the association resolved to proceed on a total indefinite industrial action from Monday, September 4, 2017, until all these issues are permanently resolved.
