Rivers People To Hold Peace Procession Friday

The Rivers state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has said that the Rivers people will on Friday, hold a grand peace procession in the State capital, to celebrate the prevailing peaceful atmosphere under the Governor Nyesom Wike-led administration.

The State Chairman of the PDP, Bro Felix Obuah, in a press statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Jerry Needam on Thursday, said that the procession is being put together by peace Ambassadors, justices of peace in the State, civil society groups, Non-governmental Organizations, Association of Political Parties and other concerned Rivers people.

According to him, the peace rally is to intensify and celebrate the peaceful atmosphere in the State and the climate of freedom under Wike’s administration.

The statement said, “Kicking off at 7am from Aba Road State Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the procession will crisscross the major Streets of Port Harcourt with all participants dressed in white attire and terminate at the College of Arts of Science, Port Harcourt for goodwill messages and speeches.

“Rivers people are pleased and wish to use the Peace procession powered by Rivers people in conjunction with the Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democration Party, PDP to show appreciation and demonstrate to the world their joy and belief that there is no alternative to peace.

“If we are to live together in peace, there is need to come together and know each other better.”

The statement noted that all Rivers people are enjoined to come out enmass to consolidate the peaceful environment enunciated by Wike, for a more progressive Rivers State.
