Rock View Hotels Not Torched – Imo Police

Contrary to speculations on social media, the police have debunked rumours that a branch of Rock View Hotels located around the Imo State Government House had been burnt down.

The state’s police spokesperson, Bala Elkana, told THE WHISTLER on Monday that the reports were false.

Bala, who spoke in a phone interview with our correspondent, said it was impossible for arsonists to torch the building because it also shares a fence with the state’s police command.

“Rock View!’ That can’t be true because the Rock View Hotels is within the vicinity of the police command.

“But once I have any update I will let you know .

“I am out monitoring the streets,” said Elkana.

Meanwhile, our correspondent gathered that a hotel named Good View Hotel located around Naze in Nekede, Owerri West Local Government Area, went up in flames last night.

A resident of the area who simply identified himself as Sangado, confirmed the incident to THE WHISTLER.

“They burnt down the hotel along poly road in Nekede, it’s called Good Views hotel.

“The hotel was burnt down last night around 1am to 2am.”

Asked if he knew those behind the attack, he said: “Right now, I don’t know the cause of the fire outbreak. I just know that the hotel was burned down and due to the no movement order from IPOB, I have not gone out to see things for myself.”

Reports of the attack came less than 24 hours after an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Ahmed Gulak, was murdered in the state.

Gulak was said to have lodged at Rock View Hotels, Owerri, when he visited the state.
