Sex Scandal Hearing Stalled Again Over US Ambassador’s Absence

The investigation by the House of Representatives Joint Committee on Ethics and Privileges and Foreign Affairs into the alleged sexual misconduct by three lawmakers in the US, has been stalled again as the outgoing US Ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle failed to honor the panel’s invitation.

The lawmakers, Samuel Ikon, Mohammed Gololo and Mark Gbillah were accused of sexual misconduct while attending a programme in Cleaveland, US in April this year.

The US Envoy who wrote a letter to the Speaker of the House of Representatives accusing the three lawmakers of sexual misconduct, was expected to appear before the joint panel to provide video evidence for the alleged crime last week Thursday July 14t. He however failed to honor the panel’s invitation.

Following his absence, the hearing was postponed till today, but Entwistle did not show up.

Also, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, who was supposed to appear before the panel, sent in a letter explaining he had to be at the Federal Executive council which holds today
