Smart Governments Invest In Health– WHO

The World Health Organization (WHO) has said that quality health system not only protects lives but also preserves the future and that smart governments invest in health.

“Funding quality Health For All, doesn’t just save lives; it means children are healthy and can go to school; people can go to work to earn a living and societies and economies are both stronger and more sustainable,” WHO Director General, Dr. Tedros said at a press briefing in Geneva.

According to WHO DG, the covid-19 pandemic has proven that health should not be compromised for anything.

He added that health and wealth go together in bringing sustainable development to a country.

The economies of nations around the world have been badly hit by the covid-19 pandemic.

“The #COVID19 pandemic has shown again and in the strongest way possible, that investing in health is not just the right thing to do; it’s the smart thing to do.

“There’s no trade off between investing in health & economy; health is an investment in our collective future,” he said.

He stressed that when governments and its people deploy comprehensive health strategy, they keep their nation secure from a pandemic like covid-19 , while minimizing its impact on lives and livelihoods

“I am looking forward to greeting and working with leaders from across the world to ensure that together we optimise the #COVID19 response and build back stronger health systems,” he said.
