Minister Bans Herdsmen, Hawkers, Motorcyclists In FCT

In a bid to make Abuja more secured, the FCT minister, Muhammad Bello banned beggars, hawkers, herdsman and motorcyclists (Okada) from operating within the Federal Capital Territory.

The Minister, said this after an emergency FCT Security Committee meeting held in Abuja on Monday.

Speaking to the newsmen, he said the FCT Administration will continue to cooperate with the security agencies to ensure that the ban is made effective.

Bello said that the institutions must be strengthened to carry out their statutory duties in line with the Change agenda of the Federal Government.

He, however, commended the security community in the FCT for the high-level intelligence sharing that had so far assisted the administration to nip in the bud any security breach in the territory.

Bello also condemned the illegal attempt by some criminals who stormed the Vocational and Rehabilitation Centre, Kuchiko in Bwari Area Council, trying to rescue some of the inmates following the arrest of 687 beggars/destitute.

Recall on 14th September, the FCT minister said its Administration is set to create a database for all beggars and destitute arrested with within the city.

He disclosed that the establishment was to provide the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) with adequate information on those arrested and serve as a guidance for the government to make adequate preparation for their repatriation.
