In the video, some of the men could be seen in a local bakery, a few on their farmlands, while others in one trading activity or the other.

Items such as foodstuff, books, cement, automobile spare parts were displayed in shops. Armed members of the sect rode on motorcycles, while some were seen operating computers.

A few months ago, the Nigerian military had claimed it had “technically defeated” the terror group and downgraded its ability to hold territories.

However, report by the United States Bureau on Counter-terrorism 2016 but released on July 17, 2017 dismissed the claims of the Nigerian military of being able to hold recaptured territories.

Last week, Acting President Yemi Osinbajo worried by the increasing number of attacks by the group ordered the Chief of Defence Staff, those of army and airforce to relocate to Maiduguri and curtail the attacks.

In the video, an old man who spoke in the local Kanuri dialect disputed the claim of the military that the group had been defeated.

“You can see that we are doing well and living fine. Look at our crops, they are growing well,” he said.

In another scene, a fighter who spoke in Hausa, said, “We are ready to do everything to protect our territory… we won’t allow an inch of our territory to be penetrated by the infidels”.
