Suspected Cultists Kill Pastor Inside Church In Lagos

One of the pastors at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Chapel of Resurrection, Festac town, Tunde Dada, has been found dead in the church

THE WHISTLER gathered that Dada, who is also the accountant of the church, was killed by two youths suspected to be cultists.

However, some residents of the area said the suspected killers could be armed robbers.

The pastor was said to have gone to withdraw some money from a bank and when he returned to the church, the youths who were loitering around the church traced him to the church office on the first floor of the church building and murdered him there.

It was gathered that the killing which happened on December 2 had thrown the family of the deceased into deep sorrow as the wife of the pastor is said to be pregnant.

Sources said two youths who attended the church for the first time on Sunday came out during the altar call and claimed to have given their lives to Jesus Christ.

The two youths were said to have approached the senior pastor of the church after the service and told him that they did not have any where to return to and the pastor asked the slain pastor to provide a place for them in the church where they could manage pending the time the church would rent an apartment for them.

The two youths were said to have swooped on the pastor on the fateful.day when they discovered that nobody was around in the church.

Some claimed Dada was stabbed to death while others said his head was broken with an anvil and the boys fled.

One of the relatives of the deceased, Tunbosun.Abolarinwa, told our correspondent that the pastor was killed on December 2 inside the church.

He said, ” One of the two boys who killed him ran away to Ilorin in Kwara State but the police have arrested him.

” The case has been transferred to Panti police for further investigation.”

The Police Public Relations Officer in Lagos State, Ade Ajisebutu, said he has not been briefed when he was contacted.
