Trump On Tillerson: ‘We Disagreed On Things’

United States President Donald Trump says he disagreed with ousted Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on key issues.

Trump said this on Tuesday while briefing reporters outside the White House shortly after firing the U.S Secretary of State.

He listed the Iran nuclear deal as one of the disagreements he had with the Tillerson.

“We got along actually quite well but we disagreed on things,” Trump told reporters.

“When you look at the Iran deal, I thought it was terrible, he thought it was okay. I wanted to either break it or do something, he felt a little differently. So we were not really thinking the same.”

Trump replaced Tillerson with CIA Director Mike Pompeo.

“Mike Pompeo, Director of the CIA, will become our new Secretary of State. He will do a fantastic job! Thank you to Rex Tillerson for his service! Gina Haspel will become the new Director of the CIA, and the first woman so chosen. Congratulations to all!,” Trump wrote on Twitter Tuesday morning.

The Washington Post first reported the news, saying that Trump had asked Tillerson to resign last Friday.

According to the Post, Trump wanted to replace Tillerson before he began talks with North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un.

Tillerson was on a five-nation tour of Africa that includes Kenya, Ethiopia, Chad, Nigeria and Djibouti.

He visited Nigeria on Monday, where he held a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.
