Umahi, Anyim Feud Gets Messier As Gov Sacks All Political Appointees From Ivo LGA

The Ebonyi State governor, Engr Dave Umahi, Wednesday, sacked all political appointees from Ivo Local Government Area, a move believed to be a fallout of the governor’s current faceoff with former Senate president Anyim Pius Anyim, who is from Ishiagu, a community in the LGA.

The sack was announced by the secretary to the state government and coordinating commissioner, Mr Kenneth Ụgbọala.

According to the commissioner, the decision was prompted by Governor Umahi’s decision to run an-inclusive administration.

The casualties are all senior technical assistants (STAs) and technical assistants (TAs) to the governor; all liaison officers, and all management committee members from Ivo Local Government Area.

They were directed to hand over all government property in their belonging to the secretary to the state government and coordinating commissioner by the close of work today, 2nd December 2020.

Hiththerto, all political appointees suspected to have been recommended by the former governor of the state, Dr Sam Egwu, were also sacked. Egwu represents Ebonyi north senatorial zone in the Senate.

THE WHISTLER reported yesterday that Anyim, while reacting to Umahi’s defection to the APC, accused him of becoming a confused man, apparently reacting to the governor’s earlier allegations that prominent people of the state, including Anyim, were allegedly recruiting cultists and IPOB members to cause mayhem in the state.

Umahi had last Thursday sacked coordinators of Ivo and Echiele Development Centres for allegedly refusing to sign a communiqué against Senator Pius Anyim.

Some of Umahi’s appointees from Ivo had resigned days ago, before Wednesday’s mass sack.
