He promised a free and fair poll, while calling on youths to remain responsible and desist from violence and destruction.
Nigerians, have, however, taken to social media platforms to react to the lengthy speech.

Buharis broadcast was definitely not live but pre recorded. So uninspiring.

Buhari refused to talk to us; like he was a god doing us a favor by being president.
Shiites were razed. Herdsmen slaughtered people in Benue and Enugu. Zamfara and Kaduna were boiling. He never addressed the nation.
2 days to elections, he appears on TV to ask for votes.

I didn't waste my time listening to Gen. Buhari's last broadcast to the nation because I knew he will never show respect for fair play. I was right.
On Saturday, we are going to put this divisive regime behind us.

Buhari's broadcast to the nation:
Who are we listening to, Buhari the president or the candidate?— zebejiro (@zebejiro1) February 14, 2019
All the days he was supposed to address us, while Nigeria lives were lost, when the polity was heated, he did not address us. It’s now that elections are around the corner. We are not interested except he plans to resign on air
