10 Injured In Anambra Multiple Autocrash

Ten persons sustained serious injuries Thursday morning following a multiple road accident that occurred at Immigration junction, Agu-Awka, along Awka-Enugu expressway.

The accident involved five vehicles and one motorcycle.

RC Kamal Musa, the sector public education officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Anambra State Command, told our correspondent in Awka that it involved an ash coloured Toyota Corolla car with registration number FST 732 ES, a blue Toyota matrix saloon with registration number FST 252 GG, a white Toyota hiace bus with registration number AKL 981 YP, a green Toyota fatbed with registration number NSH 262 ZF, a red truck with registration number DKD 198 XA, and a red mat90 motorcycle with registration number JRV 566 QE.

He reported an eyewitness saying that, “The crash occurred as a result of excessive speeding, leading to loss of control of the bus and crashing eventually. It also involved a total of 29 persons, consisting of 20 male adults and nine female adults. Seven male adults and three female adults who sustained varying degrees of injuries were rushed to Priston Hospital, Awka, by the FRSC rescue team from the Sector Command while obstruction is being cleared.”

Meanwhile, the sector commander, FRSC, Anambra State Command, CC Andrew A. Kumapayi, while wishing the injured victims quick recovery, admonished motorists to adhere strictly to speed limits stipulated by law in built-up areas to avoid traffic crashes.
