15 Killed, 57 Injured As Twin Blasts Rock Kano
Not less than 15 people were killed, and 57 others injured, on Wednesday, when two female suicide bombers detonated their improvised explosive devices at a GSM market in Kano state, Nigeria’s north-western area.
The blast came barely 24 hours after about 32 persons were killed, and over 80 injured in a similar attack in Yola, Adamawa State.
The Commissioner of Police, Kano state, Muhammad Katsina, who confirmed the death while briefing newsmen in Kano, said the incident happened around 4.30 p.m.

According to him, the incident happened when a Sharon Space Wagon vehicle arrived at the market with six passengers and dropped two females at the market.
He said as soon as the suspects alighted from the vehicle, they entered the GSM market through different gates and detonated the bombs.
It was learnt that one of the bombs went off inside the crowded market, while the other at its entrance.
Katsina called on residents to be extra careful and report any suspected character or movement to security agents for prompt response.

Although, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, it is believed to have been carried out by terrorist group Boko Haram.
Following the blasts, President Muhammadu Buhari told Nigerians not to despair, assuring that his administration would soon defeat Boko Haram insurgents.
In a statement issued by the presidential senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, Buhari condoled the families of the victims of the bomb blasts, promising to bring the perpetrators of the crimes to justice.
The statement read: “The President condemned in strongest terms the barbaric suicide terrorist attacks which took place in Yola on the evening of Tuesday, November 17 and in Kano today, causing numerous deaths and injuries among civilians.
“The President extends his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims as well as to the Government and people of Adamawa and Kano States respectively.

“President Buhari reassures Nigerians that his administration is very much determined to wipe out Boko Haram in Nigeria and bring all perpetrators of these heinous crime against humanity to justice.
“The President urges all Nigerians not to despair in the face of cowardly terrorist attacks but to have confidence in the ability of Nigeria’s reinvigorated, well-equipped and well-motivated Armed Forces and security agencies to overcome Boko Haram very soon.”
