2019: Atiku Talks Tough, Says Buhari Must Leave Power [VIDEO]

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has said if voted out in 2019, President Muhammadu Buhari must “leave power” whether or not he likes it.

Atiku warned that unless Buhari “wants to plunge this country into a political crisis”, the president must cede power if he loses the 2019 presidential election as he has allegedly done “badly” in office.

The former Vice President and 2019 presidential hopeful issued the warning in a short video clip posted on Instagram by Pulse Nigeria.

He said, “So far, he [Buhari] has done badly as far as electoral processes are concerned because there have been serious breaches of fundamental electoral processes.

“I felt there was a need for someone like me who’s experienced in politics; experienced in governance; experience in business to try and restore and bring back the country on track as far as economic development was concerned,” said the Waziri Adamawa.

THE WHISTLER recalls that Atiku and the Presidency had on Wednesday exchanged verbal blows over the former Vice President’s disparaging comments against President Buhari.

The former Vice President had described Buhari as “very uncompromising, also power-drunk; (and) who will not be ready to leave power without a fight” in an interview with AFP.

Responding, the Presidency said: “Rather than use the name of President Buhari to buoy his bid to get the presidential ticket of a party, whose flag has been flying at half-mast since it got roundly trounced at the polls in 2015, the former Vice-President needs be told that the President is truly uncompromising, but only when it comes to looting the common patrimony of Nigerians, and squandering their riches.”
