According to the DG, the yearly rainfall prediction (SRP) and annual flood outlook (AFO) released by the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA) predicted floods in June.

Muhammed called on the state emergency management agencies to prepared for evacuation of residents of communities that would be affected by the floods.

He also advised governments to sensitize the residents on the alert.
“That refuse, weeds, water hyacinths should be removed from drainages, water channels and all avenues for river run-offs so as to allow free flow of flood waters,” the director-general said.
