7 hrs After Ex-Minister Adewole Son’s Kidnap, Police Yet To Make Arrest

Over seven hours after confirming the kidnap of the son of the immediate past Minister for Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, the where about of Dayo is still unknown.  

The Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo state, Mr. Olugbenga Fadeyi, had confirmed Dayo’s abduction at about 10am on Wednesday, stating that he was kidnapped by four gunmen around 6:30pm on Tuesday at Iroko near Fiditi, Afijio local government of the State.

Fadeyi had made the confirmation over 12 hours after the former minister’s son was reported kidnapped from his farm.

“The man, Dayo Adewole, was abducted by four gunmen around 6:30pm at Iroko. The Area Commander in Moniya and other patrol teams had been alerted and are presently giving the armed men a hot chase.

“We are on their trail as I speak with you and more deployments had been made to rescue the guy and track down the abductors,” Fadeyi had told Punch on Wednesday morning.

He added that a vehicle with which the gunmen abducted Dayo had been discovered.

As at the time of filing this report, no news have been heard of the kidnap, neither have the abductors contacted the family.

Checks by THE WHISTLER also showed that both the Inspector General of Police and the former minister had not disclosed any information on the incident.

The Spokesman for the Nigeria Police Force, Frank Mba, in a short interview with THE WHISTLER said that he could not comment on the matter as the headquarters was yet to be updated on the matter.

 “I will advise you to speak with the CP Oyo and the PRO Oyo so that we don’t give you an information that is not updated.

“They are on the ground, they have facts. They are dealing with the matter.”

The Oyo PRO, Fadeyi could not be reached as at press time.

Recently, the rate of kidnappings and crime in the country have drastically increased. President Muhammadu Buhari has however promised to ensure that the menace is curbed.
