Abia: Arochukwu Legislative Council Takes-Off, Councillors Charged To Deliver On Mandate

The Executive Chairman, Arochukwu Local Government Area, Hon. Prince Dan Kalu, has inaugurated the newly elected councilors of the council with Hon. Austine Emeka Bonny unanimously elected Leader of the 6th Legislative Council.

Speaking while inaugurating the members, Prince Kalu congratulated them on their election as councillors and commended them for the peaceful way in which they elected their principal officers.

The Council boss reminded them that, as elected councilors, much is expected from them by the people that elected them.

He therefore charged them to be up and doing in the discharge of their duties, adding that his administration would collaborate with the Legislative Council to bring the much needed dividends of democracy to the people of Arochukwu LGA.

He urged them to emulate the governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, and show purposeful leadership for the betterment of Arochukwu LGA.

The chairman also congratulated the Leader of the legislature, Rt. Hon. Austine Emeka Bonny and other principal officers on their election, adding that he looked forward to seeing the passage of bills that would bring rapid development to the council.

Other Principal Officers of the Legislative Council include:

  • Hon. Chinedu Ijoma Ogbonnaya -Deputy Leader
  • Hon. Godswill Iromma – Majority Leader
  • Hon. Okorie Kalu – Deputy Majority Leader
  • Hon. Samuel Charles – Chief Whip.

The new Secretary to the Local Government, Mrs Chioma Orji, was also sworn-in while the appointment of the Chief of Staff to the council chairman, Mr. Nnamdi Okorie, was also announced.
