The Abia State Government, on Wednesday, flagged off the Arochukwu-Ndi Okereke-Ozu Abam road, a project met with jubilation by residents and local officials. The new road is expected to be a major driver of economic and social development in the region.

“I remember vividly well during the period of Governor Otti’s campaign here in Arochukwu, he made it clear that this road leading to Ozu Abam will be fixed if he’s elected. For over donkey years, it’s been in a very bad state.

“If you can see what is going on here today, everybody’s happy, I can’t even express my joy myself as a person,” the Majority Leader stated.

Okoro expressed the collective appreciation of the constituency to the government.

“We are very happy as a people, as a constituency, and as a government, we are pleased with this giant stride Governor Otti has accomplished,” he declared.

Otumchere Otti, Commissioner for Works, outlined the specifics of the project, including a 12-month contract period, a total length of 30 kilometers, a road width of 7.3 meters, 1.5-meter wide asphalt concrete shoulders, and a detailed breakdown of the pavement structure using high-quality materials.

Otti further elaborated on the anticipated economic benefits.

“The construction of this road marks a major turning point in the social and economic development of Arochukwu local government.

“His Excellency will not only construct the roads, but will also revitalize the communities along the corridor,” he declared.

He stated that some communities previously lacked direct access to their local government headquarters, creating logistical challenges, adding that the new road is poised to change that.
