Abia Govt Distributes Transformers To Eleven Communities

Abia State Government has commenced the distribution of Eleven Electricity Transformers to Eleven Communities to boost power supply in the State.

The Commissioner for Power and Public Utilities, Engr. Ikechukwu Monday, disclosed that the distribution was done on first come, first serve basis and charged the benefiting Communities to guide the transformers jealously.

The Commissioner who said the State Government procured about 53 transformers to solve the power challenges confronting the Communities, commended the Governor for the gesture. He also noted that This is the first batch of transformers that will be procured and supplied to communities in the state

“We are a blessed state, very industrious people, and you cannot promote industrialization without, reliable electricity. So this is part of that gesture to achieve that goal. I will urge all the communities, especially the community heads.

Today, you’ll be signing an attestation before we hand over this transformer to you that you’re taking responsibility of these transformers, that you hold it as a treasure and protect it against any form of theft or vandalism,” said Monday.

Responding on behalf of other beneficiaries, the Traditional Ruler of Ibeuzo Autonomous Community Ikwuano LGA, Prof. Innocent Ezeala while commending the Governor for the massive infrastructural development in the State, also expressed joy for approving their request of granting the transformer without any gratification to anyone.

“This gesture points to the fact that government is setting up systems that will make Abia a state that works in every sector.

“The funny thing is that I came here and put up an application for a transformer for my community without seeing the Commissioner.

“I was called on phone to come for the transformer without having to grease anyone’s palms with anything in order to get it,” Eze Ezeala stated.

The Whistler reports that the benefiting Communities include; Umuogo Community Ubakala, Amaegbuato Nkpa, Okpuala/Umulenwa Isiala North, Agbama Olokoro, Ibeuzo Amawom Ikwuano, Umuoruku village Obingwa, Atan Abam, Ndi Oji Abam, Abayi Ohanze Obingwa, Nwokoma environs Aba South and Umuokelenta Amaoba Oboro Ikwuano.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr Ferdinand Ekeoma, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Power and Public Utilities Mrs. Nwanyịeze Otum were among the government officials Present at the event.
