ABIA: ‘Shoprite Not Attacked By Gunmen’

Contrary to reports of an attack on Shoprite in Umuahia, Abia State, sources say there was no shooting in the complex.

The manager of the Genesis Cinema, Dominic Orazulike said the attack occurred outside the shopping complex and not within.

Reports were making the rounds that no fewer than seven persons were reported dead following the attack on the complex.

But Orazulike debunked the report but said he could not confirm the number of casualties outside the mall.

“I was expecting this to happen,” he said, adding that the residence of the leader of the proscribed group, Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu “is a couple of minutes drive from the mall”.

The shopping mall is located close to the state’s CID, which was reportedly attacked on Saturday.
