Abia Sports Ministry Announces Dates For Governor Otti’s Secondary Schools Unity Games 2024

The Abia State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development has announced the dates for the Dr. Alex Chioma Otti Secondary Schools Unity Games. The competition, aimed at fostering unity and sportsmanship among secondary school students across the state, will take place from February 1st to 14th, 2024.

Sir Nwaobilor Nwadinma Ananaba, Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, stated that the Local Government Area competitions will kick off on February 1st, with opening ceremonies held in each LGA. The games will commence in earnest on February 2nd, culminating in a grand closing ceremony on February 14th.

“The Dr. Alex Chioma Otti Secondary Schools Unity Games is a significant initiative aimed at promoting healthy competition, sportsmanship, and team spirit among our young people. We are confident that this event will not only showcase the athletic talents of our students but also foster a sense of unity and belonging within the state,” he said.

Comrade Obioma George, Ag. Director of Sports encouraged all secondary schools in Abia State to register for the competition and participate actively. He noted that the games will feature various sporting disciplines, providing opportunities for students to showcase their skills and compete for coveted prizes.

The Dr. Alex Chioma Otti Secondary Schools Unity Games is expected to attract significant participation from schools across the state, with students, teachers, and parents eagerly awaiting the commencement of the competition.
