Actors Decline Comments On Chiwetalu Agu’s Arrest Over Biafran Flag Display

Some Nollywood stars declined to comment on the arrest and manhandle of star actor Chiwetalu Agu by Nigerian soldiers at Upper Iweka.

THE WHISTLER reported that he was Thursday arrested by the operatives of the Nigerian Army for wearing an outfit bearing the Biafran flag.

A movie producer in Enugu, in a chat with out correspondent, said, “I don’t want to say nothing; not until I have spoken with Mr Agu to know what happened.”

A popular actress warned against being quoted when our correspondent called her.

She said, “Don’t drag me into this matter yet. We have a hierarchy. I’ll send you our PRO’s number.” It was a promise she didn’t keep.

Another actor based in Enugu responded, “We need more time to digest what happened. People are also being careful with the likely militarisation of the Southeast very soon.”

An actor, Chidebere Nnoso, who was spotted at the Museum, Enugu, where Nollywood stakeholders hold meetings, said, “If they do anything bad to him, we shall embark on peaceful protest. We shall respond through our leaders.”

Efforts are on to speak with the leadership of Actors Guilds.

The video of the incident showed Mr Agu being dragged down by the soldiers.

The famous actor had last week worn a similar outfit, which attracted reactions.
