AFCON 2019: Why Super Eagles Shunned Press Conference Ahead Of Guinea’s Clash

Following allegation of their unpaid bonuses and allowances, the Super Eagles of Nigeria today, Tuesday boycotted the pre-match conference.

Vice-captain of the team, Ahmed Musa was expected to attend the conference along with the team’s gaffer, Gernot Rohr, but he stayed back at the hotel with the rest of his teammates to discuss the issue.

This is coming barely twenty four hours to their tie against Guinea in the African Cup of Nations, AFCON in Egypt.

The Super Eagles laboured to a hard-fought win over Burundi in their first game and could earn a ticket to the Round of 16 should they triumph over the National Elephants in Alexandria.

However, Rohr’s men went on to complain about their unpaid bills.

According to reports, the players who have kept silent on the issue since they started preparations for the 2019  AFCON tournament in Egypt are now ready to take the matter up with the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF.
