After 30 Years, Southern Nigeria Produces Chief Justice of the Federation (See The Full List Since 1914!)

Barring any unforeseen circumstances, Justice Walter Nkanu Onnoghen will in the next few hours confirmed as the substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) by the Senate of Nigeria’s National Assembly.

This is coming exactly 30 years after late Justice Ayo Gabriel Irikefe last held the position from 1985 to 1987.

Though the South boasts of an array of legal minds and far outnumbers the North in terms of legal practitioners and Senior Advocates, the latter have always held sway at the hierarchy of the judiciary.
