After Atiku, Buhari’s Son-In-Law Receives COVID-19 Vaccine

Ahead of arrival of the first batch of COVID-19 vaccines in Nigeria, a son-in-law to President Muhammadu Buhari has received a dose of the vaccine.

Ahmed Indimi, who is the husband of Zahra Buhari, shared a photo of himself being inoculated against the virus on his Instagram page on Saturday.

Indimi, who did not mention what brand of the vaccine he received or where he was inoculated, simply captioned the photo “vaccinated”.

The son of billionaire business magnate, Alhaji Mohamed Indimi, shared the news days after viral social media photos showed former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, receiving what was believed to be COVID-19 vaccine in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.

Atiku is believed to be the first known Nigerian to receive the vaccine.

Meanwhile, Nigeria expects to receive its first batch of COVID-19 vaccines by end of January, 2020. The Executive Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Dr. Faisal Shuaib, made the disclosure at a recent daily briefing of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19.

Shuaib also revealed during Thursday’s briefing of the task force that President Buhari and his vice, Yemi Osinbanjo, would be among the first persons to receive the Pfizer/BioNTech approved COVID-19 vaccines when they arrive the country.

He said Buhari and Osinbajo may receive the vaccine on live television to encourage Nigerians to follow suit.

The chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum and Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, had also told journalists after a meeting with President Buhari on Friday that many governors would receive the vaccine on live TV to encourage acceptance by the citizens.
