‘Ajimobi Is My Partner,’ Tinubu Denies Report Of Rift

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has reacted to a report published by an online newspaper (not The Whistler) alleging a possible rift between himself and the Oyo State governor, Abiola Ajimobi.

The medium had also alleged that Tinubu banned Ajimobi from showing up at APC governorship campaign meetings in the state.

But Tinubu, in a statement on his Twitter handle, said the medium was wrong to report that the Ajimobi is his rival, adding that his intervention in Oyo APC was not to supplant the governor.

“This report goes beyond a lie. It is a vindictive attempt to sow discord because the writer is angered by the APC’s success in the presidential election,” the statement read.

The national chairman who said no amount of report will ruin his relationship with Ajimobi, added that he never stopped the governor from campaigning in the state as reported.

He said, “All Progressives Congress National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has said Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State is his partner, not rival and that his intervention in Oyo APC is to engender genuine reconciliation not to hide or supplant the governor.”

Tinubu further described Governor Ajimobi as an excellent governor and a faithful member of the APC.

“He has brought progress to the state and in serving two consecutive terms, Ajimobi made history in Oyo. He is instrumental to anything the APC can achieve in Oyo,” he said.
