I bring you greetings in the name of the Lord. I know that all nerves are uptight for vengeance but I still believe in the true Christianity.

33 years ago, while we were still students at the Ahmadu Bello university in Zaria, we had a religious intolerance which led to a big riot. It was a great battle between the Christians and Muslim students.

I remember what happened vividly that night, It was 24 hours of horror, so many people died in the battle, including muslims and some of our Christian brothers and the spirit of anger and vengeance took over the campus. Around 12:30 am, we succeeded in capturing two of the almajiri boys who were brought in as mercenaries to fight and we locked them up in a room.

At about 2am, reports reached us that some of our brethren were killed in the battle. The news angered many of the believers who demanded that the two boys be brought out and killed in vengeance, but a few of us refused and pleaded that the boys remained locked up and handed over to the police in the morning.

By the morning, while we sat to eat breakfast, the Lord instructed me to get some food for the boys that were locked up in the toilet.

You needed to have seen their faces literally lit up because they could not believe we were offering them food.

After having their breakfast, Jesus told us to set them free and we did. Our action came as a shock and surprise to them because after releasing them, one of the boys went and sat in front of the post office which was about 100 meters from us. That same evening, he came back to us and asked us to tell him about Jesus. At the end of the day, he gave his life to Christ and became a born again child of God.

If the early church had killed Saul, there would not have been a Paul the apostle. There would not have been the epistles and the gospels we now read as Christians. Remember the same Saul who was a murderer became Paul the apostle. I ask you this question, what would Jesus have done at a time like this? What message would He have preached to the body of Christ.

Christianity is not about how we feel but about who He is. The anger of man does not work the righteousness of God.

Jesus stands for only one thing. PEACE. He is the prince of PEACE. If we as Christians accuse other religion of violence, we should not become the advocates of that same violence today. No matter our frustration and anger about the madness going on, we are still the ambassadors of Christ. We represent a personality whose symbol is peace and not war.

Finally, I must state very categorically here that Christianity is not about how we feel but what He said. It is not a religion of the flesh, neither is it a religion but it is life in the spirit. It is the most difficult thing to practice on earth. Please let us not turn our midweek services to takwando and karate classes but rather teach people on how to live the life of the Spirit.

I stopped trying to defend myself when I discovered Jesus, the one who told me to hold my peace.

If Jesus can no longer save us and we are now looking for cutlasses and guns for the so call self defense, then we can as well take prayers out of the Church. The last time I read my bible, I still saw the scripture that says “call upon me in the days of trouble and I will deliver thee”.

I join the body of Christ to condemn all the killings and manipulation of the government against the church of Christ. I stand with my beloved brethren to call on the God of vengeance but the weapons of my warfare are not carnal but mighty through God. For so many years and on many occasions, we have stood single handedly in the defense of the body of Christ. But we must realize that the only thing that makes us different is our stand for peace.

The whole world is looking for that tittle “prince of peace”, even the anti Christ will want to use that tittle to operate on earth. But we must preserve it for Him who alone is worthy, Jesus the Christ.

Christianity is not about anyone, what your pastor, bishop or pope says, it is about the doctrine of Christ. It is the spirit of Christ that killed the beast in every one of us. As a young Muslim, I stoned evangelist on crusades but today I am an evangelist preaching what I once fought. We are not blood thirsty Christians but peace loving children of God. We must also remember that God stopped David from building his temple because his hands were full of blood.

Finally, I once again call on the government to stop this useless killings before the owner of the church visits with vengeance. I Love you all.
