APGA Not An Igbo Party – National Chairman

- Assures Of Free, Fair, Credible Primaries

The chairman, All Progressives Grand Alliance, Enugu state, Barr Ken Ikeh has stated that people who say the party is an “Igbo party” do so in error.

He made the statement while speaking with newsmen at the party’s secretariat in Enugu.

Ikeh, in the statement, quoted the national chairman as saying that the forthcoming primaries in the state will be free, fair and credible.

Ikeh said, “I want to reassure all the aspirants that APGA is ready to prove her greatness by ensuring that the rule of law and internal democracy are practicalised.

“APGA is a party to beat in the 2019 general elections and the party has developed the capacity to lead Nigeria in line with the best tenets of democracy.

“The national chairman of APGA has charged all aspirants to engage in aggressive campaign and mobilisation of party members assuring them that the primaries must not only be free and fair but also credible.”

He said the party was consolidating at the national level, and called for more support as it remained the best platform to enthrone the best democracy in the state and the nation at large.

In his words, “APGA currently has two senators and seven members of the House of Representatives, one governor and numerous house of assembly members at various states. Therefore it is difficult at this stage of the pre-election fever and unprecedented gale of defections to say what APGA’s position will be in the nation’s polity.

“However, it must be pointed out that APGA is the only party in Nigeria with a clear-cut manifesto. It is a philosophy that is not just pragmatic but realistic. This is why people decamp to APGA and not out of APGA. People think that APGA is an Igbo party in error.”
