Army General Dies Of Covid19 In Abuja

General Officer Commanding(GOC) 6-Division, Port-Harcourt, Rivers state, Major-General Olu Irefin, has reportedly died of complications from COVID-19.

The GOC was reportedly attending the annual Chief of Army Staff Conference in Abuja before he took ill and died, The Cable Newspaper said.

THE WHISTLER has however not been able to confirm the report.

This website had earlier reported that the conference was cancelled by the Army authority after a senior military officer tested positive for COVID-19 at the ongoing conference.

Following the development, participants were asked to go into isolation for 14 days.

THE WHISTLER has contacted relevant sources at the Defence headquarters, who claimed they were not aware of the development.

“All the participants have been mandated to immediately proceed on self-isolation in line with the Federal Government’s protocol for COVID 19 and to prevent any further spread of the disease.
