The governor announced on March 24 that he had contracted the virus after coming in contact with the infected son of former vice president Atiku Abubakar, who had tested positive for COVID-19.

Atiku’s son was said to have also recovered from the disease after testing negative on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Governor Mohammed has thanked the people of Bauchi for their prayers while he was down with the virus.

He also thanked the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and other health workers for their efforts in curbing COVID-19 in the country.

Mohammed tweeted, “Alhamdulillah. I just received the green light. My second test for #COVID19 returned negative. I thank you all for your prayers & support even while I was in isolation. Most importantly, all the praises & thanks be to Allah – the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful. #GreaterBauchi”

Mohammed was the first governor in Nigeria to test positive for Coronavirus, after whom governors Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State and Seyi Makinde of Oyo State had tested positive for the disease.
