Bayelsa Guber: Court Stops APC From Adopting Direct Primary

With less than four days to the conduct of the All Progressives Congress, APC governorship primaries in Bayelsa State, a High Court sitting in Yenagoa has granted an interim order restraining the party from adopting direct primary in the election.

The party’s governorship primary is scheduled to hold on August 31.

After hearing an ex parte motion, Justice E.G Omukoro granted the order.

The applicants are Japan Christopher, Evinson Oyindeyinfa, Oddu Ovinmiebi and Obiriki Isaiah.

They had sued for themselves and also on behalf of concerned members of APC in Bayelsa.

Direct primary election is when people vote for candidates of their political party by direct vote instead of by delegates at a convention.
